A Drop in Violent Crime

Today, the number of “right to carry” states stands at 48, and the number of permit holders has grown to more than 22 million nationwide, and as of March 2025, 29 states have adopted constitutional carry. The FBI’s uniform crime report continues to show a trending drop in violent crime year-over-year, with a dramatic decrease in the number of deaths attributed to firearms, including a 125-year low in law enforcement officer deaths.

If that doesn’t prove that concealed carry persons are the good guys, then nothing will.

My goal is to provide you with the best possible firearms, home defense, concealed carry and specialized training.  I look forward to working with you!

Mike Parmigiani

 VP and Lead Instructor
I am a retired career public servant having served in the Army and Federal Law Enforcement for nearly 30 years with extensive tactical, firearm and teaching experience.

After a dozen year street-level career of managing international investigations targeting the dismantlement of complex violent global organized crime and drug trafficking syndicates, I was called to HQ leadership.

During that time, I had management oversight for and have trained thousands of students around the world; I was stationed as an instructor and a leader at the FBI Academy for several years.

As a now retired civilian, I am a Certified Firearms Instructor in several disciplines with the NRA and USCCA. I am also a Certified Chief Range Safety Officer with the NRA and a Range Safety Officer with the USCCA.

Highlights from my career include:
  • Managed all aspects of classroom and experiential (hands-on) training and education for FBI New Agent Trainees (Special Agent candidates).
  • Managed International Training - providing all topics of classroom-based and field experiential training to foreign law enforcement and military partners around the world.
  • Oversight of International Law Enforcement Academies in Mexico and El Salvador.
  • Managed the Instructor Development Program which is the sole certification authority that provides FBI employees the education, ability and Instructor-level certification to teach their subject matter expertise.
  • Managed critical national programs including global kidnapping (hostage rescue and recovery), crimes on the high seas (piracy), international fugitives and major noted cases abroad.
  • Multi-term National Agency President of our professional association.  Among other services, that association provided legal counsel to agents in need, particularly after critical incidents and shooting events. Keenly aware of all aspects of the impact of such an event.

Susie Dreiling

President and Lead Instructor
I am a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer with over 20 years of extensive tactical, firearm and instructional experience.  I achieved an advanced instructor designation early in my career and subsequently taught thousands of students domestically and internationally, as well as certifying hundreds of individuals as instructors.

I was stationed for a period of time at the FBI Academy, where I held a senior management position and worked criminal investigations throughout my career.  As a now retired civilian, I am a certified firearms instructor with the USCCA, an NRA Range Safety Officer, an expert-level yoga instructor, and I travel around the country teaching yoga and meditation to first responders and military personnel.

Highlights from my career include:
  • Oversight of the FBI's Defensive Tactics, Physical Fitness and Less-Lethal Programs for 6 years as Unit Chief with enterprise-wide responsibility for those disciplines.
  • Authored the first-ever Agency policy on Less-Lethal Devices, and authored the Agency policy for the return of the mandatory Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for on-board Agents after a 15-year hiatus.
  • Responsibility for all aspects of administration, classroom and experiential (hands-on) training and education for FBI New Agent Trainees (Special Agent candidates).
  • Successful investigations of criminal matters, to include:  extradition of international fugitives, bank robberies, crimes aboard the high seas, Hobb’s Act violations, Ponzi schemes, wire fraud and investment fraud cases.
  • Keynote speaker at multiple national conferences on the topic of Active Shooter Events for civilians.
  • Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor, Physical Fitness Advisor, Advanced Instructor, Firearms Instructor, E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor, Warriors at Ease Instructor and iRest Instructor.

Defensive Shooting Versus Marksmanship

Different skills are required for defensive shooting than for being a good marksman on the range.

Unlike relaxed exercises on the range, with paper targets at 50 feet, dynamic critical incidents are usually:
• Fast (3-5 seconds)
• Close (3-5 yards)
• Requiring multiple rounds (3-5 shots)

Certified Glock Armorer

Mike is a Certified Glock Armorer who is trained to maintain, troubleshoot and service all Glock pistols beyond the capabilities of the average gun owner or lay person.

This includes a full firearm inspection, minor repair, and parts replacement.

A Certified Glock Armorer is not a “Gunsmith.” Gunsmiths are typically those with full machine shops capable of building a gun or gun part from scratch (raw metal).  Therefore, his skills and authority are limited to parts replacement, repair, and inspection services.  This includes changing sights and fully disassembling your Glock (Gens 1-5) [beyond field stripping that most Glock owners are familiar with].

Your weapon will be fully examined, including assessment of each part for safety and worthiness while repairing/replacing with new parts to return your Glock back to its original safe functioning form.

Each firearm will be test fired before return.

Risk management/ risk mitigation

We offer home defense reviews and security assessments.  Please call to discuss your needs and pricing.

bringing my training class to you!

I noticed that there are many 'instructors' who truly don't train students on the skills, knowledge and attitude on how to handle firearms.  Handling them with safety, accessibility & concealment are key components of my training.  I also didn't want to 'tie' myself down to a range that has restrictions on how I would properly train people safely.

Therefore, I developed a combination CWP & basic pistol training class where I can train in just about any location.  We can do the classroom training convenient to you and then go to a local range for qualifying.  All that's needed is a minimum of four (4) students and I'll gladly train at your location.

Home Security by the Numbers

According to FBI statistics, burglars enter:
Front door 34% of the time
Back or screen doors 22% of the time.
First floor windows 23% of the time

Consumer Reports’ test of locks and doors:
A standard deadbolt and strike plate with standard-length screws -- the door was breached after just two impacts of the battering ram at 60 joules per “kick.”The same deadbolt but with a reinforced strike plate and 3-inch screws -- the door was breached after 13 impacts at an average of 160 joules each.

Handgun Cleaning and Maintenance

During this 90 minute to two hour class (depending upon your experience) you will learn the basic, safe, disassembly of your firearm into its major components, known as “field stripping.”  You will learn the proper inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of these parts, and the proper re-assembly and function check of the firearm.  This skillset is critical to maintaining your firearm so that it is always ready and properly functioning when it is needed to protect yourself, your home, and your family.

Active Shooter for Civilians

This presentation will define the term “Active Shooter” and discuss the unique characteristics that separate these types of events from traditional criminal actions.  The discussion will explore the nexus between past events, lessons learned and current domestic and international environments.  The copycat or contagion effect that influences these scenarios will be discussed, along with the potential for both insider and outsider threats that may result in an Active Shooter event.

Personal Safety Use Of Defensive Techniques

will introduce the concept of threat awareness and help students develop the mindset necessary for either avoiding or freeing themselves from situations in which they feel or become threatened.  We will be demonstrating the ability of the body to act as a self-defense tool, and how to make use of the body’s own tools, as well as common everyday items, in the defense of self.  This class is a great introduction into self-empowerment and personal safety.

"This was my second time taking a Concealed Carry class. I felt that this class was much more informative and engaging with the class. The refresher was great for bringing to top of mind a lot of the ways to not only protect yourself and loved ones. But how to do it properly within the confines of the law. The class was very interactive. My first time was more of a lecture type of format. Would recommend Mike & Susie if you want to learn the ins & outs of firearms safety, the law governing concealed carry. This was my second time taking a Concealed Carry class. "I recently attended a USCCA class, and it exceeded all my expectations! The instructors, Mike and Susie, were not only extremely knowledgeable but also made the entire experience enjoyable and engaging. They explained everything clearly and thoroughly, making complex concepts easy to understand. What really stood out were the fun and interesting stories they shared from their own experiences with them being in the FBI— it added a personal touch that made the class even more memorable. If you’re considering this class, don’t hesitate! "I met Mike through the USCCA website. I hadn’t used or carried a handgun for almost 20 years, and I wanted to ensure I was handling and using it correctly. My time with Mike was definitely 2 plus hours well spent! He is extremely experienced and knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with and learn from. He quickly assessed my skills and tailored his training session to my needs. I learned a LOT! Mike gave me a bunch of additional information and drills to work on to continue to improve my skills.I wholeheartedly recommend anyone who wants to improve their shooting skills to get in contact with Mike. I also plan to have him teach my wife and adult daughter."

"I am not comfortable with guns, but Mike is working with me to find the gun that fits my needs. Mike is very patient, no pressure, just comments and help to become a better shot. I plan to continue with more classes with him. An excellent, knowledgeable trainer with the best interests of his clients in mind. Also, extremely attentive as any calls, messages or emails sent to him are responded to promptly. I am very happy I have chosen Mike's training course. I would recommend it to anyone especially older clients like me, not previously active or knowledge with firearms. I am greatly looking forward to working with Mike until I reach my goals.I am not comfortable with guns, but Mike is working with me to find the gun that fits my needs. Mike is very patient, no pressure, just comments and help to become a better shot. I plan to continue with more classes with him. An excellent, knowledgeable trainer with the best interests of his clients in mind. Also, extremely attentive as any calls, messages or emails sent to him are responded to promptly. "Me and my partner took (the) New Shooters Experience class and it was better than expected. Mike and Susie are fantastic people who made our first time shooting at a range so much fun! We walked away with so much knowledge and an excitement to continue to get better and shoot more! We are already booking more classes with Mike and can't wait to get back out there!"

"Mike is a great communicator.  He gave us clear direction as to what our day was going to look like, so we knew what to expect. Mike was there before we were to give a heads up to the staff at Tenoroc gun range and was there before us, prepared and ready to go as soon as we were finished with Tenoroc's safety video.  We got right on the range and started learning. His instruction is fun, informative, engaging and professional.  I have a brand new gun (never shot it before) and my son had just a little experience shooting his gun.  I signed him up to hone his skills and for us both to learn gun safety and self/home defense.  I highly recommend both Mike and Susie for all your gun/safety/home defense/training needs. We had a blast!!"

"Mike has a very vast background in guns and is very passionate about his weapons and ammunition thru the training course he delivers. We are both so glad we had the pleasure in meeting with and being trained and advised by Mike. Because we have had zero experience with guns we felt we needed to be trained and trained properly and he gave us the time to make us comfortable around guns. We had a 2 X 1 training course training course both theory and practical. Mike exposed us both to the different types of weapons available to us and to experience the sensation of handling such weapons. Mike will continue to guide us thru our path to become more safer, knowledgeable and comfortable with these guns and to help us in choosing a suitable gun. Thank you Mike for your service which is invaluable to us and many of the people like us that you help train."

"My wife and I both attended this training class. We found it very helpful in that it was practical as well as informational. Mike Parmigiani and Susie Dreiling designed the class to be geared specifically for people who have had little exposure to self-defense concerns. They covered topics such as situational awareness, mental preparedness, everyday items that could be used for self-defense, basic striking and kicking - with actual practice - and the use of pressure points. The goal was not to become a ninja, but to impart enough knowledge to avoid a conflict, and enough technique to practice in order to escape if a conflict occurs. In spite of this being an intimidating topic, it was presented in a warm, friendly manner, and even with some humor."

"Mike and Susie were very knowledgeable and informative. You can tell they have spent many years in law enforcement. They were very entertaining too! Was kind of dreading spending 4 hours in a classroom on a Sunday, but they made it enjoyable and fun. I highly recommend their class to everyone"

Susann’s presentation was very applicable in the world we live.  Having a plan and knowing what you will do in an emergency is key to one’s survival.
Presentation was very well received and most informative.  Feedback from attendees was outstanding and it was viewed as a highlight to our national conference.
